About Us

To reach Australia, we travelled overland from London to Bangkok and then travelled around Indonesia by plane, bus, taxi, motorbike and boat.  Click here to read our travel blog.

By the time we reached Melbourne we had both reached the grand old age of 48 and it might seem strange to lots of people to be starting a new life at our age.

We have a house back in the UK which we can't sell for love nor money, which is mortgaged up to the hilt anyway, and a small storage room in a facility in south east London.

We don't have a crate arriving with all our worldly belongings;  we are literally starting out with what we arrived with in our rucksacks.

We have no children and I'm allowed no pets (just in case the travelling bug bites again, you can't take a collie and a cat with you) so we have the freedom and, as Paul has dual nationality, the opportunity to try our luck in Australia.

We are both hard workers and at the time of writing this both fairly optimistic that we will find work and be able to live fairly well, save some money and decide what the next move is.

Finally, this blog is intended as a personal diary as I enjoyed writing the travel blog and want to continue to write.  At this stage I haven't made it public (even to family and friends) and I am not sure I want to at this stage but it is out there on the world wide web and anyone who stumbles across it is welcome to comment/argue/advise as appropriate.

Let's just see how easy it is to start over on the other side of the world...
